Now in its fourth year, the Deezer NEXT programme comes out of 2020 swinging with the announcement of 25-year-old R&B vocalist, Langa Mavuso.
Mavuso is quickly becoming a Mzansi favourite. He first made his mark on the local music scene with the immense success of his two EPs and singles, including his most popular track, ‘Sunday Blues.’
Langa is currently recording and working on his highly anticipated debut album and hopes to give his fans and followers a unique and memorable music experience.
Deezer pays artists significantly less than other similar services. As of March 2018 it was paying $0.0064 / play, less than Apple Music and Google Play, half as much as Tidal ($0.0125). Not as bad as Spotify or Pandora, but could certainly do better. Deezer was the first streaming service to launch a yearly programme to support emerging talent. Deezer has revealed the plans for a new program called Deezer Next, which will identify and promote emerging musical talents.The streaming service will collaborate with the artists and their labels and managers to raise the profile of the selected performers through playlisting, editorial, and marketing support. Three performers – Rag’N’Bone Man, Maggie Rogers and Anne-Marie – have already been chosen for global promotion. The remaining participants, once they are chosen, will receive support in individual markets.
